We explain a new Sam Sanchez book called Pirates in the Desert, with stories about El Paso history from a San Elizario, Texas perspective. The stories were written over several decades, plus there are illustrations by the author. In the book’s research they found an original Jose Cisneros painting called The Vaquero that Cisneros gave to Sam Sanchez. Welcome Sam Sanchez, author, and the book publisher, Sam’s son Ray Sanchez.
